Refinery Input Continues to Plummet, While Production Ramps Back Up

Most of the production that got knocked offline due to the previous week’s winter storm has come back online, recovering 700 Mb/d of the 1 MMb/d that was lost. However, refinery input continued to fall, losing an additional 430 Mb/d, for a drop of more than 1.8 MMb/d over the past two weeks.

Natural Gas Futures Plummet On Warm Weather and High Storage

The February Nymex natural gas futures contract closed at $2.49/MMBtu, down 13 cents from the January settlement price of $2.62/MMBtu. In the last day of trading: Monday January 29, the February contract slid 22.2 cents as bearish weather forecasts crushed market expectations for mid-winter.

Crude Exports Drop Dramatically From Last Week

LNG Canada Partners’ December Gas Production Achieves New Record to Close out 2023

RBN estimates that the combined natural gas production of the equity partners in LNG Canada rose 0.09 Bcf/d in December to a record 1.93 Bcf/d (combined height of the rightmost colored bars in top chart below). The new record surpasses the previous record set in October at 1.92 Bcf/d.
