RBN Energy’s Rusty Braziel told CNBC’s Jim Cramer that Iran is unlikely to shut down the Strait of Hormuz, a critical oil shipping route, despite recent threats following U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. Braziel emphasized that Iran would harm its own economy by doing so, noting it exports 1.7 million barrels of oil daily through the strait. Historically, Iran has made similar threats without following through, and Monday’s drop in oil prices suggests the market shares his skepticism.

Braziel also warned about broader energy trade risks, highlighting how recent U.S. restrictions on ethane exports to China have made global buyers wary of relying on U.S. suppliers. “We’ve weaponized ethane,” he said, adding that this undermines the perception of the U.S. as a stable energy partner.
