Natural gas intake at the LNG Canada liquefaction site in Kitimat, BC has been ramping up in the past couple of months as it shifts into the mode of more regular production of LNG for export according to RBN’s Canadian NatGas Billboard. Based on publicly available data regarding gas intake at the site, volumes were initially very small as equipment testing took place between the end of August 2024 and May 2025, with monthly averages in the range of 15 MMcf/d or less (blue columns in chart below). Gas intake increased to an average of 218 MMcf/d in June in preparation for the first LNG export cargo on June 30 (see our Analyst Insight of July 1), with RBN estimating the site has been averaging around 450 MMcf/d of gas intake to date in July (green column) based on actual and scheduled shipping data.
