South Bow has achieved mechanical completion of its Blackrod Connection Project in Alberta and placed the project’s 25-km (15.5-mile), 16-inch natural gas lateral into commercial service, the company said during its quarterly earnings call November 14.

Final facility activities for the pipeline are underway and the project remains on schedule to be placed into service in early 2026, the company said. The lateral, known as the McMillan North pipeline, will supply natural gas from the NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. system to International Petroleum Corp’s (IPC) Blackrod facility. It is one of two adjacent pipelines (blue line in map below) South Bow is developing for the project.

A liquids pipeline will connect production from IPC's Blackrod steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) facility to the existing Grand Rapids Pipeline (black line in map). Construction of a 150-Mbbl storage tank at the project’s terminal facility was completed in Q2 2025.
