Hurricane Beryl which made landfall in South Texas early Monday after passing through the western reaches of the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) caused some curtailment in U.S. oil and gas output.

At its peak on Monday, the storm forced 15 production platforms to be evacuated, according to the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement. Some 151.3 Mb/d of crude oil and 154 MMcf/d of natural gas was shut-in. These are just a fraction of GOM output. Further, GOM federal offshore supply accounts for 15% of domestic crude output and 5% of total dry gas production.

There were no reported injuries and affected operators are conducting inspections and damage assessments before resuming operations.
