U.S. oil and gas rig count gained four rigs to 595 for the week ending September 18 according to Baker Hughes data, as gains in the Bakken (+3), Permian (+1) and All Other (+2) outweighed one-rig declines in Haynesville and the Niobrara. Gas-directed rigs climbed to 134 (+2), matching their highest level since July 2023, while oil-directed rigs edged up to 452 (+2) and miscellaneous rigs were unchanged at 9. Total U.S. rig count is up 32 over the last 90 days and now stands 53 rigs above this week in 2025.
