On January 29, Trans Mountain Corporation (TMC), the Canadian government-owned entity that is constructing the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion (TMX), announced that it was facing an additional delay in the completion of TMX. TMC reported it was facing “technical issues” during the final stages of construction on a short and final segment of the expansion in southern British Columbia, with the length of the delay being unspecified. It is believed that the technical issues relate to problems with the winching of welded pipeline through a 2.3 kilometer (~1.4 mile) tunnel which, if completed, would the mark the end of the expansion’s construction. This latest snag merely adds to a years-long list of other delays for the expansion.
