Williams Companies held its first-quarter 2026 earnings call earlier in May. CEO Chad Zamarin covered the company’s various commercial initiatives, while CFO John Porter reviewed the financial results and prospects.
The commercial presentation was a continuation of the theme of steady but aggressive growth in natural gas and power generation. Two projects led off, the first being the conversion of the 832 MW Naughton coal-fired power plant in Wyoming coal country, announcing that the conversion has now entered service. The second project covered was Transco’s extremely high-profile Northeast System Expansion, or NESE, expanding service into New York City. This project has been a major political victory for natural gas, attracting support from multiple officials of the Trump administration as well as New York Governor Kathy Hochul. Zamarin referenced the celebration of the start of construction held at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn, involving two U.S. officers, the heads of the FERC and the EPA, state and union officials and the president of the utility receiving the gas (see photo below).
