Kinder Eyes Expansion of SFPP Products Pipe Bound for Arizona

Kinder Morgan is seeking shipping commitments to support a project to expand a segment of its SFPP products system that runs from El Paso, Texas, to Tucson, Arizona.

Known as the East Line, it will have up to 10 Mb/d of incremental capacity to transport diesel that meets the requirements for export to Mexico and other products like gasoline and jet fuel. The expansion capacity is scalable, and dependent on the level of shipper interest from the ongoing open season that will conclude Aug. 9; it began June 10.

Kinder Floats Open Season for SW U.S. Products Pipeline

Kinder Morgan, Inc. announced 4/12 the launch of a binding open season to solicit commitments to support a proposed expansion of a portion of its SFPP (Santa Fe Pacific Pipeline) pipeline system from El Paso, Texas to Tucson, Arizona. The open season will run from April 12, 2023 until May 26, 2023.

Strong demand for refined products (especially jet fuel) in Arizona and refinery closures in Southern California have spurred the development of a new refined products pipeline from West Texas to the Phoenix area. ONEOK, whose acquisition of Magellan Midstream Partners made it a player in refined products, has announced an open season for the proposed Sun Belt Connector pipeline, which would expand PADD 2 and PADD 3 refiners’ access to premium markets out West.
