Dow Chemical began construction this month on its new Path2Zero, a net-zero steam cracker at its Fort Saskatchewan site in Alberta. CEO Jim Fitterling told investors Thursday (4/25) that Dow was installing the first of about 4,000 piles that will anchor the foundation of the cracker, which is slated to come online in two phases in 2027 and 2029.

Fitterling also said during Dow's Q1 2024 earnings call that all equipment with long lead times for delivery has been ordered and noted the company's long-term ethane supply agreement recently struck with Pembina to provide and transport up to 50 Mb/d of ethane. Pembina will transport ethane on its Alberta Ethane Gathering System (AEGS, purple lines in the map below) to Dow’s Fort Saskatchewan site (red dot below).
