BP has made its final investment decision on the Kaskida oil and gas project in the Gulf of Mexico and plans to have it operational from 2029.

As BP’s sixth hub, Kaskida will feature a new floating production platform with the capacity to produce 80 Mb/d from six wells in the first phase. Owned completely by BP, the field has discovered recoverable resources currently estimated at around 275 MMBoe from the initial phase. More wells could be drilled in future phases, subject to further evaluation.

It’s located in the Keathley Canyon area, south of Louisiana. The project could unlock the potential future development of 10 billion barrels of discovered resources in place across the Kaskida and Tiber catchment areas.
