Alberta crude oil and condensate production for July averaged 4.762 MMb/d (see red dots in chart below), up 271 Mb/d or 6% vs. June, and up 116 Mb/d compared the prior July record of 4.646 MMb/d set last year, according to data released by the Alberta Energy Regulator on August 31. July volumes were within 2 Mb/d of the all-time record of 4.764 MMb/d set in December 2025.
July almost always shows a large increase from June volumes, as spring turnaround-related downtime typically wraps up by mid-June.
Year-to-date through July, Alberta production has averaged 4.523 MMb/d, up 144 Mb/d year-over-year (oil sands +96, other oil +13, condensate and pentanes plus +35).
Alberta inventories at the end of July remained on the lower end of the range seen over the past several years (see red dots in chart below), at 58.7 MMbbl, and within the 55-63 MMbbl range seen in most months since start-up of the TMX pipeline in May 2024.
Total removals from Alberta averaged 4.542 MMb/d in July, 12 Mb/d below the record high set in December 2025.
