Alberta crude oil and condensate production for June averaged 4.491 MMb/d, up 173 Mb/d vs. May, and up 127 Mb/d year-over-year, according to data released by the Alberta Energy Regulator this week.
Year-to-date production of 4.483 MMb/d (see red dots in chart below) is up 149 Mb/d or 3.4% year-over-year (oil sands up 100, heavy oil up 4, light & medium oil up 9, condensate and pentanes plus up 35).
Production is expected to be higher in July and August, as volumes in April, May and June are typically impacted by planned spring oil sands plant turnarounds.
The month-over-month improvement was driven by higher insitu oil sands bitumen production (orange line in chart below) and higher oil sands upgrader output (blue line in chart below).
