RBN has been in the blogging business for almost three years, and ever since we started these postings one of the most frequent complaints we’ve heard is that “It doesn’t work on my iPhone”.  Finally we are fixing that, and many more things too.  But as with anything new delivered by internet, there are some things you need to know.  So today is a blog about blogs, to make sure all of our members know what we are changing and how to take maximum advantage of our new website’s capabilities.

Since you are reading this, you are probably quite familiar with RBN blogs.  At 5:00am central time each business day we release the Daily Energy Post, a market commentary from one of our RBN contributors where we get deep into the details about energy market trends, the mechanics of how energy markets function, and the workings of economic and operational energy models. We do our best to make these postings interesting and informative, and to pick musically referenced titles that make us, and hopefully you - smile.   We sent our first blog email on January 23, 2012 to 22 friends and family (literally), and today we are up to 16,500 members and going strong.  It has been great for building both our consulting business and bringing in subscribers to our Backstage Pass premium services.

As we have grown, the way a lot of folks access our content has changed.  Many of our members access the blog and other services on mobile devices.  But up to now that has been a real hassle because we never designed the site for that kind of access.  The new website fixes that.  It uses something called responsive design, which means the layout and content responds (or, adapts) based on the size of the screen it’s presented on.   So the same pages work on phones, tablets or PCs.   Most websites have been doing this for years.  We are just now catching up.

You don’t need to do anything special to use the new capability.  Just surf to rbenenergy.com on your phone or tablet, and click on Daily Energy Post.  That will take you to the most recent blog, or link you back to any of the 1,000 or so blogs in the archive if you have Backstage Pass.   Examples of the screens are shown in Figure #1 below.
