They’re generally small in size, but renewable diesel refineries are popping up in many parts of the U.S., incentivized by government programs aimed at reducing carbon emissions and very gradually weaning Americans — and Canadians — from crude oil-based diesel fuel. Recently, HollyFrontier Corp. announced that it will be converting its decades-old Cheyenne, WY, refinery into a renewable diesel facility. While the news of another entrant into the renewable diesel market is not surprising, the complete shutdown and transformation of an existing refinery for this purpose marks only the second time this has occurred in the U.S. Today, we discuss HollyFrontier’s plans and provide an update on renewable diesel supply and demand dynamics.

The production and consumption of renewable diesel have taken off in recent years due to regulatory incentives that encourage its use. About the song

"Green Grow the Rushes" was written by Bill Berry, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Michael Stipe, and appears as the second song on side two of R.E.M.'s third studio album, Fables of the Reconstruction. Personnel on the record were: Michael Stipe (lead vocals), Peter Buck (guitar, banjo, harmonica), Mike Mills (bass, piano, backing vocals), and Bill Berry (drums, backing vocals).

Fables of the Reconstruction was recorded in February and March of 1985 at Livingston Studios in London, with Joe Boyd producing. The LP was a concept album, with all the songs having a Southern Gothic lyrical theme. It was released in June 1985, and went to #28 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart. It has been certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America. Three singles were released from the LP.

R.E.M. was an American alternative rock band formed in Athens, GA, in 1980. The group released 15 studio albums, four live albums, one soundtrack album, 16 compilation albums, 6 EPs, and 63 singles. R.E.M. has sold more than 90 million records worldwide, and has won two Billboard Music Awards, three Brit Awards, three Grammy Awards, and 12 MTV Video Music Awards. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Bill Berry retired from the band in 1997, and the band continued as a trio until their amicable breakup in 2011. All of R.E.M.'s members have continued on with various musical projects since its breakup.
