Woodside Energy expects to make a final investment decision (FID) on its 27.6 MMtpa (3.7 Bcf/d) Driftwood LNG project near Lake Charles, Louisiana (see map below), in Q1 2025 after its acquisition of current Driftwood owner Tellurian closes in Q4 this year as expected.
Perth, Australia-based Woodside announced in July that it would acquire Tellurian and Driftwood LNG for $900 million to enter the U.S. LNG market and complement its Australian LNG operations. The Driftwood project is permitted and in February the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) granted Tellurian's request for a three-year extension from the April 2026 deadline to begin construction.
