Using data from RBN’s Canadian NatGas Billboard report, Western Canadian natural gas production in March 2024 averaged 18.49 Bcf/d (dashed rectangle around rightmost column in chart below), a new high for this month and the fourth highest monthly average on record. March did fall a modest 0.18 Bcf/d from the February average of 18.66 Bcf/d (itself, the second highest monthly average) and a gain of 0.37 Bcf/d from a year ago. With gas producers traditionally wrapping up most of their winter gas drilling and well tie-in programs during March, it comes as no surprise that gas production remained relatively resilient during the month.
