Using data from RBN’s Canadian NatGas Billboard report, Western Canadian natural gas production rebounded strongly in February (red dashed rectangle in chart below) from wellhead-freeze-off affected lows in January. Daily output levels consistently held above 18.5 Bcf/d, almost on par with several daily record values that were recorded in December 2023 (black dashed rectangle). February production averaged 18.75 Bcf/d and is the second highest monthly average on record, barely surpassed by the December 2023 average of 18.79 Bcf/d. With gas focused drilling and wellhead tie-in activity that remained at or above historical ranges for all of February, it comes as no surprise that the month has come close to setting a new high for gas production.
