Annual average natural gas production in Western Canada established a record in 2025 of 19.1 Bcf/d (burgundy column and text in chart below) according to data reported in RBN’s Canadian NatGas Billboard. This represented a net increase over 2024 of 0.7 Bcf/d, second to a 1.3 Bcf/d gain recorded in 2022, and the fifth consecutive annual increase. The record was characterized by annual record production in British Columbia (BC) of 7.4 Bcf/d, a gain of 0.3 Bcf/d, and Alberta reaching a 16-year high of 11.4 Bcf/d, an increase of 0.4 Bcf/d. RBN is currently projecting growth for Western Canadian natural gas output in the range of 0.8 Bcf/d for 2026.
