U.S. oil and gas rig count was unchanged at 588 for the week ending August 7 according to Baker Hughes data, as a three-rig gain in the Permian and a one-rig gain in the Gulf of Mexico were offset by a one-rig decline in Appalachia and a three-rig decline in All Other. Oil-directed rigs climbed to 454 (+3) while gas-directed rigs declined to 124 (-3) and miscellaneous rigs were unchanged at 10. Total U.S. rig count is up 40 over the last 90 days and now stands 49 rigs above this week in 2025.
