U.S. oil and gas rig count gained six rigs to 580 for the week ending July 2 according to Baker Hughes data, published Thursday ahead of the Independence Day holiday, as Permian (+3), Anadarko (+1), Eagle Ford (+1), Gulf of Mexico (+1) and All Other (+3) outweighed declines in the Bakken (-1) and Haynesville (-1). Oil-directed rigs climbed to 445 (+5), while gas-directed rigs edged up to 126 (+1), and miscellaneous rigs climbed to 9 (+1). Total U.S. rig count is up 32 over the last 90 days and now stands 41 rigs above this week in 2025.
