U.S. oil and gas rig count fell by one rig to 587 for the week ending July 24 according to Baker Hughes data, as declines in Gulf of Mexico (-1), Permian (-1) and All Other (-1) outweighed gains in Haynesville (+1) and Niobrara (+1). Despite the overall decline, gas-directed rigs climbed to 127 (+1) while oil-directed rigs declined to 450 (-2) and miscellaneous rigs were unchanged at 10. Total U.S. rig count is up 43 over the last 90 days and now stands 45 rigs above this week in 2025.
