US oil and gas rig count declined for the week ending July 25, closing the month of July with a decrease of two rigs to 542 according to Baker Hughes data. Rigs were added in the Appalachia (+1), Gulf of Mexico (+1) and All Other (+1) basins, while the Permian (-3), Eagle Ford (-1) and Niobrara (-1) all declined for the week. Total US rig count is down 45 in the last 90 days, and down 47 from this week a year ago. Oil-directed rigs fell to 415 (-7) this week, with gas-directed rigs growing to 122 (+5) and miscellaneous rigs flat at five.
