U.S. LNG celebrated another victory in April for exporting the most cargoes in one month, beating out March’s record.

The U.S. exported 136 cargoes in April, a new all-time high, four more than March’s record. LNG exports have risen sharply in the past six months, partly driven by the new terminal, Plaquemines LNG, which has been taking feedgas consistently since the start of the year, maintaining around 2 Bcf/d since mid-March. See chart below.

The April export record trounces the 2024 average, which was about 107.5 cargoes per month, and soundly defeats this year's average of 128.5 per month. While most U.S. LNG still lands in Europe, volumes are gradually shifting back toward Asia. In April, 67% of exports went to Europe, down from an average of 76% during the winter months.
