Total U.S. crude oil imports declined by 410 Mb/d to 5.59 MMb/d. Over the past 10 weeks, imports have averaged just 5.885 MMb/d—590 Mb/d below the 6.475 MMb/d average during the same period last year. The decline has been spread across all PADDs, with the largest drops occurring in PADDs 1, 2, and 5.
Interestingly, imports from Canada are actually up by 130 Mb/d over this period, as volumes crossing the border have been steadily increasing over the past year. In fact, only 29% of the 590 Mb/d decline is attributable to our top nine primary trade partners, meaning the vast majority of the decrease is coming from smaller exporters.
