The EIA reported total U.S. propane/propylene inventories had a withdrawal of 1.3 MMbbl for the week ended April 11, marking an unusual off-season withdrawal, which was flipped from industry expectations for an increase of 1.3 MMbbl and the average build for the week of 803 Mbbl. This is the highest week-on-week withdrawal since 2020. Total U.S. propane stocks are now at 44.4 MMbbl, 11.3 MMbbl, or 20%, less than the same week in 2024 but 7.4 MMbbl, or 20%, more than the 5-year minimum. Inventories are 4.7 MMbbl, or 10%, below the 5-year average. This unusual counter-seasonal withdrawal likely reflects strong exports, lower production, and weaker imports.
