PADD 1 (East Coast) propane inventories are in good shape heading into the final week of the winter heating season. As shown on chart below, total East Coast inventories are at 6.5 MMbbl, which is 3.5 MMbbl more than 2022, 2.9 MMbbl above the 5-year average and 1.7 MM over the 5-year maximum.

While the strong growth of U.S. propane exports gets all of the market headlines, waterborne imports into the region have been instrumental to ensure that the many homes and businesses in the Northeast that depend on the fuel for space heating stay warm. One company that has really helped shore up supply into the region this winter season has been Blackline Midstream which has imported four cargoes into their Sea-3 terminal at Newington, NH.
