Siemens Energy and Techint Engineering and Construction have been awarded a front-end engineering design (FEED) contract for a 210-MW electrolyzer facility at the Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico, project developer Transition Industries LLC said Thursday.
Once operational in 2029, Pacifico Mexinol (#71 in map below) is expected to produce about 350,000 MT/year of green methanol and 1.8 million MT/year of blue methanol from natural gas with carbon capture. Transition Industries said it would be the world’s largest standalone ultra-low carbon chemical production facility.
