Navigator Holdings is scouting opportunities to acquire more ethylene-capable Handysize gas carriers as Enterprise Products Partners expands the companies’ joint venture 2.2 billion lb/year ethylene export terminal on the Houston Ship Channel.
Executives said last week that the company will need more ethylene vessels as the terminal expands its capacity by 50% this year to 3.4 billion lb/year (see yellow outline in terminal photo below). Navigator has yet to order new Handysize carriers but expects to do so in the coming months in addition to acquisitions.
