U.S. propylene prices were on a pretty good run this year until April.  As shown on the left-hand chart below, propylene prices peaked in early March at 72 c/lb and then gradually declined for the rest of the month to 60 c/lb.  Prices have plunged in early April to 45 c/lb and currently sit at 42 c/lb, falling 42% over the last 4 weeks.  Propane and butane steam cracker margins which improved dramatically with the run-up in propylene have also plunged over the last two weeks.  As shown on the right-hand chart below, ethylene margins for propane and butane peaked at around 20 c/lb in late March but have tumbled to only about 5 c/lb currently.
