Crude oil flows from the Permian Basin to the U.S. Gulf Coast reached a record high in December 2023 at 5.64 MMb/d (see graphic below), according to our Crude Oil Permian report. For 2023, flows from West Texas to the Gulf Coast averaged 5.28 MMb/d, a 10% increase from 4.78 MMb/d in 2022. Volumes to Corpus averaged 2.29 MMb/d last year, Houston averaged 2.17 MMb/d and Nederland averaged 0.84 MMb/d. This represented a 32% year-over-year increase for Houston and a 20% year-over-year increase for Corpus, while Nederland remained flat.
