Three members of the OPEC+ alliance plan to roll out monthly crude oil output cuts to compensate for overproduction during January-June 2024.

Iraq, Kazakhstan, and Russia submitted their respective curtailment programs which will begin this month and end in September 2025, OPEC said. In the first half of this year, overproduction for Iraq reached a total of 1,184 Mb/d, Kazakhstan 620 Mb/d and Russia 480 Mb/d, it added.

In the new 15-month proposal, both Iraq and Kazakhstan will begin their reductions in July; Iraq’s cutbacks would range 70-90 Mb/d, while that for Kazakhstan will vary widely between 1-265 Mb/d. Cuts from Russia will actually start from October and even then, it won't happen every month.
