Leading Appalachian pure-play producer EQT aims to pursue an expansion of the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP) as soon as possible, executives said this week, days after the company closed its acquisition of MVP operator Equitrans Midstream months earlier than originally planned.

The 2 Bcf/d pipeline (magenta line in map below) began operations in June a decade after it was announced, six years of construction, and repeated delays (See NATGAS Appalachia for details). EQT announced the Equitrans acquisition in March, and MVP’s startup was a contractual condition of closing the all-stock deal.
