EPIC Crude Pipeline (light green line on map below) has achieved its highest-ever monthly throughput. According to flow data recently published by the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC), EPIC Crude transported 607 Mb/d in April, surpassing its 600 Mb/d nameplate capacity. This is possible depending on where EPIC receives its nominations from along the pipeline, including receipt locations in the Permian Basin at Crane, Midland, Wink and Orla, as well as non-Permian receipts at Gardendale, Hobson, Robstown and Midway.

Dream Baby - Extensive Connectivity Supports Wink's Emergence as a Major Permian Crude Hub
Situated in West Texas’s Winkler County, the tiny city of Wink (population just under 1,000) might seem easy to overlook but it holds a special place in music history as the childhood home of Roy Orbison — he formed his first band, the Wink Westerners, there in 1949. But beyond its rich musical legacy, Wink in recent years has emerged as a key hub for crude oil connectivity in the prolific Permian Basin. Don’t blink or you might miss out on what’s happening in this dynamic locale, the subject of today’s RBN blog.
Bustin’ Out - EPIC Crude Pipeline Running at Capacity, Spurring Talk About a Possible Expansion
Hundreds of miles separate the Permian Basin from the U.S. Gulf Coast, but in the Shale Era traversing that span has become increasingly important to Permian producers. Billions of dollars have been invested to expand capacity to move Permian production — crude, natural gas or NGLs — to the Gulf Coast to take advantage of surging export markets. In today’s RBN blog, we’ll focus our attention on EPIC Midstream and its EPIC Crude Pipeline, which has operated above its nameplate capacity for much of this year.
You're Gonna Go Far - EPIC Crude Pipeline, Poised for Growth
The EPIC Crude Pipeline, which stretches from the prolific Permian Basin in West Texas to Corpus Christi, has operated above its original nameplate capacity for more than a year, with volumes rising in recent months. Owner EPIC Midstream in April sold its NGL pipeline to Phillips 66 for $2.2 billion and its Olefins Pipeline to Howard Energy Partners in December 2024. In today’s RBN blog, we’ll discuss the EPIC Crude Pipeline and what might be ahead.
