Permian-to-Corpus flows have been running near full levels for over a year now, but capacity has increased recently. Phase I of Enbridge’s Gray Oak expansion added 80 Mb/d effective last month.
And it's a good thing too, because the pipelines flowing from the Permian-to-Corpus have been flowing full in recent months. Recent data from the Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) has reported EPIC's Crude Oil Pipeline has been flowing above its nameplate capacity. EPIC facilitates the transportation of flow from Orla, TX to Corpus Christi, serving the Midland, Delaware, and Eagle Ford basins. According to our RBN Energy Crude Oil Permian Report, between January 2022 and March 2024, volume flows averaged 563 Mb/d (see stacked area of chart below). However, over the April 2024 to March 2025 period, volumes averaged 632 Mb/d, consistently exceeding the pipeline’s nameplate capacity of 600 Mb/d (dashed black line). Flows in Q1 2025 accelerated to the highest quarterly volume on record of 657 Mb/d.
