Eagle LNG has asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a five-year extension of its authorization to site, build and operate a new LNG terminal on the St. John’s River in Jacksonville, Florida.

FERC first authorized the project in September 2019, with a deadline of September 2024. In a letter to FERC dated July 29, the company asked for a five-year extension to push the deadline to September 2029.

The project proposes three liquefaction trains that can liquefy a total of 132 MMcf/d for export in small- to mid-size LNG carriers to serve markets unable to accommodate large LNG carriers, such as Caribbean ports.
