CSV Midstream Solutions announced on June 9 that it plans to build a 35 Mb/d fractionation plant in Fort Saskatchewan. Subject to regulatory approval, CSV expects to make a final investment decision (FID) on the project by early 2027, targeting startup in 2029.

This would be CSV’s first fractionation facility. The company owns five natural gas processing plants in Alberta with combined gas processing capacity of roughly 570 MMcf/d and approximately 46 Mb/d of hydrocarbon liquids handling capacity, and a 70 MMcf/d compression/dehydration facility.

Fractionation capacity at Fort Saskatchewan (currently about 391 Mb/d) is expected to grow by 63 Mb/d this month, with start-up of Pembina’s Redwater 4 fractionator (+55 Mb/d) and completion the Keyera’s Fort Saskatchewan II debottleneck (+8 Mb/d). The Keyera Fort Saskatchewan III fractionator (+47 Mb/d) is expected to start up in by mid-2028. Including CSV’s 35 Mb/d fractionator project, fractionation capacity at Fort Saskatchewan could grow by 145 Mb/d between now and 2029.
