A significant gain in the Haynesville drove U.S. rig count higher for the week ending February 6, climbing to 551 according to Baker Hughes data. The Haynesville added six rigs on the week to reach a multi-year high of 64 rigs. The Gulf of Mexico (+3) also added rigs this week, while the Permian (-1) and All Other (-3) both declined week-on-week. Total U.S. rig count us up five in the last 90 days, but remains 31 below this week a year ago. Gas-directed rigs now stand at a multi-year high of 130 (+5), with oil-directed rigs climbing to 412 (+1) and miscellaneous rigs falling to 9 (-1).
