The Houston Ship Channel fully reopened to two-way traffic on Sunday (7/21) after crews recovered a tug boat that capsized and sank Friday afternoon.
The tow vessel sank Friday (7/19) afternoon near the Lynchburg Ferry (see waterway at the top of the San Jacinto Monument in map below), which is north of the Port of Houston’s Bayport and Barbours Cut container terminals, ExxonMobil’s Baytown refinery, and Enterprise Products Partners’ ethylene export terminal in Morgan’s Point. Those and other operations south of the incident site were unaffected by the closure.
