As reported by the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), Alberta’s oil production was 3.93 MMb/d in April 2024, a record for the month (rightmost stacked bars in chart below). This was a decrease of 113 Mb/d from March, but a significant 402 Mb/d higher than a year ago. Oil output in the month was partly handicapped by turnaround operations in the oil sands which affected both non-upgraded bitumen (green bars) and synthetic crude oil (red bars).
