Data from the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) indicates that Alberta’s oil production achieved a new record in December 2023 of 4.19 MMb/d (rightmost stacked bars in chart below). The December high inched ahead of the previous record holder set in the prior month at 4.15 MMb/d (stacked bars inside black dashed rectangle). The strong performance in the last few months of 2023 established a new annual record of 3.82 MMb/d, just slightly ahead of 2022’s 3.73 MMb/d.
