On January 19, Keyera Corp., one of Canada’s largest midstream operators, announced that its Alberta EnviroFuels (AEF) plant located in Edmonton, AB will be subject to an unplanned extended outage that will last until May 2026. The company reported that it had shut down the plant earlier this month to determine the cause of a reduction in output performance and determined that there had been a failure in a key component (not identified by the company). Due to the time to fabricate, deliver and install a new replacement component, the extended downtime was deemed necessary with the company noting that it now will undertake a planned six-week turnaround during the downtime that was originally scheduled for Fall 2026.
