Sempra Energy’s earnings report last week included a brief update on the two LNG facilities the company is building in North America. At Energia Costa Azul on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, CEO Jeff Martin announced that Sempra is expecting first LNG in June and is “targeting substantial completion this summer." Energia Costa Azul is already receiving feedgas from the Rosarito pipeline, which is the orange line in the schematic below. As seen in the map, Rosarito can access gas from the Permian and from SoCal, which were both substantially cheaper than Louisiana prices in March. Sempra also has an LNG project under development at Port Arthur, and the company says that it is “on time and on budget.”
