Crude oil flows from the Permian Basin to Houston reached a record high in December 2023, totaling 2.47 MMb/d (blue line in graphic below), according to data from the Texas Railroad Commission. For the full year of 2023, 2.16 MMb/d were transported from West Texas to Houston, marking a 17% increase compared to the 1.85 MMb/d in 2022. With pipelines to Corpus Christi essentially full, most of the production growth in the Permian has been directed toward Houston, with some also going to Nederland. Enterprise recently repurposed its Midland to ECHO II pipeline for NGL service, now referred to as Seminole pipeline, reducing Permian takeaway capacity by 220 Mb/d.
