North American LNG exports in July have already pushed past June’s level and the all-time record from April is in sight.
Thirty cargoes were exported from the U.S. last week, plus one from LNG Canada: eight from Sabine Pass; five from Freeport; four each from Plaquemines and Corpus Christi; and three each from Cameron, Cove Point, and Calcasieu Pass.
With a few days remaining in the month, July LNG exports are already above June levels, and the U.S. is on track to match or potentially exceed the record set in April. Maintenance curtailed output in May and June, but exports have rebounded strongly in July. Commissioning cargoes from Plaquemines, Corpus Christi Stage III, and LNG Canada are also contributing to higher total volumes and boosting global supply.
So far in July, about 60% of North American LNG exports are heading to Europe, roughly consistent with May and June. However, exports may gradually shift toward Asia as LNG Canada increases its output. The terminal has shipped four commissioning cargoes to date, all bound for Asia. Given the terminal’s Pacific Coast location, most of its volumes are expected to go to Asian markets. For more information on the LNG industry, check out our LNG Voyager Weekly Report.
