Equinor has fully restaffed its Titan oil and gas platform in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) and is restarting production, a company spokeswoman said. The facility was shut last week in advance of Hurricane Rafael.
The markets now are watching developments of the next weather system brewing in the central Caribbean Sea. The storm is expected to turn slowly northwestward by early next week, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), passing through the Yucatan before getting back into the GOM. To be known as Sara, it will be the 18th named storm of the 2024 hurricane season.
The storm season runs officially from June 1 through November 30, and this year’s has seen five major storms make landfall on the USGC (see Drill Down report Brave).
