Western Canada’s propane inventories at the end of February (red circle in left hand chart below) were posted at 1.8 MMbbl, with a larger than average decline of 1.4 MMbbl versus January and stand 1.1 MMbbl (-38%) below the five-year average (blue line) according to data from the Canada Energy Regulator (CER). Weather in Western Canada during the month was 16% colder than the historical average which contributed to the strong drawdown, with stock levels also influenced by rail and pipeline shipments from the region to other parts of North America which also experienced colder-than-average conditions during February.
