Shell’s Boxer pipeline and Eugene Island Pipeline System (EIPS) in the Gulf of Mexico have resumed service, according to the company.
Market sources said the two systems were returned to operations either late Sunday or early Monday. Both networks were suspended last Tuesday (December 3) because of a leak on a third-party lateral pipeline.
The 184-mile EIPS consists of a network of crude pipes (see map below). It can deliver as much as 200 Mb/d of crude from fields in the central GOM. The 20-inch diameter main pipeline delivers oil to pipes and terminals located onshore in Louisiana, such as those on Caillou Island. Boxer pipeline extends from Green Canyon 19 and connects to EIPS.
