Analysis & Insights

The March contract on Thursday rose 18.6 cents to $3.918/MMBtu during its first full day as the prompt contract. Production continues to recover from its freeze-off lows during Winter Storm Fern. The storage report yesterday was fairly bullish, and storage is expected to be a big bullish factor in the next report. The weather forecast change overnight made only a small change in projected storage. More cold is anticipated over the weekend, giving a bullish boost to the market. LNG feedgas has not yet fully recovered to pre-storm levels, and Elba Island remains offline. The front month is up about 17 cents in trading this morning.
