Western Midstream (WES) held its third quarter earnings call on November 5, with much of the discussion flowing toward its expanding wastewater services business.

The opening remarks trickled in with highlights of a record Delaware Basin natural gas throughput of 2.1 Bcf/d despite fewer wells. In addition, a new connection between their Chipeta plant in Utah and Kinder Morgan’s Altamont pipeline helped push total gas throughput to a record 5.5 Bcf/d for the quarter.

The whirlpool of discussion during the call surrounded WES’s completed acquisition of Aris Water Solutions (Aris) for $1.5 billion (their Permian assets pictured below), announced October 15. The acquisition fills out the company’s “three-stream” model they've been marketing to handle gas, liquids, and water in the Delaware Basin.
